Scanning Electron Microscope Laboratory
Science Building – S112
The SEM laboratory at Indiana State University houses a Tescan Vega 3 scanning electron microscope and the archive collection for SEM samples. The instrument uses a tungsten filament and has the capability to do EDAX analyses on small and medium-sized samples. The instrument has integrated backscatter and secondary detection. The facilities also include a Denton Desk V sputter-coater, which can utilize a variety of metal and non-metal targets. The SEM instruments are freely available for Indiana State classroom and outreach activities as well as paid use for research activities.
If you are interested in using the SEM for a classroom activity, would like to request research access, or would like to have the SEM involved in scientific outreach, please contact Dr. Jeffery Stone for more information.
