The Human Osteology Lab at Indiana State University serves as a base for research in historic period bioarcheology and forensic anthropological case studies.

Recent bioarcheological projects include publications on multiple myeloma, archaeologically recovered gold plate dentures, and the distribution of syphilis across North America from the colonial period to the 20th century.  Notable findings include the 1st reported case of multiple myeloma from North America was archaeologically recovered from Terre Haute, IN.

Local and state law enforcement officers contact the Human Osteology lab frequently throughout the year in need of identifications and investigations of skeletal material found under suspicious circumstances.

Students participate in both bioarcheological research and conduct experimental forensic course projects.
