As part of a grant from the Lilly Endowment, Dean Scott College of Business founded the Student Managed Investment Fund Consortium (SMIFC) in July of 2013. The consortium is dedicated to fostering student leadership, experiential learning, and research. What began as a modest initiative has since blossomed into a vibrant network of 273 member institutions across the globe. Together, we are shaping the future of finance by empowering students and advancing the transformative impact of SMIF programs. Initially limited to universities in the Midwest region, our invitations have now expanded nationwide and internationally.
One of the cornerstone activities of the SMIFC Consortium is our annual conference, which provides a unique platform for students, faculty, and professionals to engage in stimulating discussions on best practices in investment management. Our past conferences have been highly successful, attracting participants from leading firms in the investment industry, including BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, Bank One, CME Group, Charles Schwab/TD Ameritrade, Ariel Investments, First Trust, Stifel, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
