Helpful Links and Information
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
At Indiana State University, we value the important role parents and families play in supporting their student’s success. At the same time, we must comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), which protects the privacy of student records. This means that we cannot share certain details about your student’s housing or academic information unless your student grants permission.
To make this process easier, your student can set up a secure passcode for you to act as a proxy. This passcode allows us to discuss specific information with you while respecting your student’s privacy and adhering to FERPA regulations. We encourage you to talk with your student about setting this up so we can work together to support their success.
