About Commuter Services
Congratulations on choosing to commute to Indiana State University! We know this is a big step toward your future, whether you’re attending college for the first time or you’re choosing to move off-campus and live in your first apartment. In the Office of Commuter Services, you will find information about several campus services and departments that we find extremely helpful for those commuting to class.
You are also welcome to watch our Orientation introduction video below. This video will show and tell you about all the separate services available to commuters, as well as tips and tricks for living as a commuter student.

Helpful Services
As a commuter student, it’s important to purchase a parking permit to use when you’re on campus. With a student parking permit, you’ll be allowed to park in any student lot or staff/student lot on campus, or any Indiana State remote lot (excluding metered, pay, or specialty lots, including the Psychology Lot). You will need your car registration information to order your permit.
As a commuter student, you’ll still have the option to purchase a meal plan. The Sam’s Plan includes 30 meals per semester plus $40.00 in Commons Cash. The Sycamore Plan includes 50 meals per semester plus $40.00 in Commons Cash. All commuter meal plans expire at the end of each semester.
Indiana State’s Health Center provides high-quality healthcare services to all students. Whether you need routine immunizations, treatment for flu-like symptoms, sports physicals, or other medical care, the Health Center is here to support your well-being. Services are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Student Recreation Center (SRC) features gymnasiums, swimming pools, and other fitness services, including classes. Students who are enrolled in the appropriate number of credits deemed by Indiana State are assessed the SRC fee of $100.00 per semester. If a student is not enrolled in the number of credits required for assessment, enrolled students are eligible to purchase an SRC membership by visiting the membership services desk and paying the $100.00 semester fee. All student fees are based on a semester basis.
The Charles E. Brown Cultural Center hosts exciting cultural events, creative workshops, and celebrations. The Center inspires connections and invites everyone to engage with both historic traditions and today’s dynamic culture.
