Mileage Grants for Health Professions Students

Grants are available to health profession students to help offset the cost of transportation expenses when traveling to clinical sites within the WCI-AHEC service area. Approved students may be awarded up to $200 per rotation, with up to $400 per student per year, as funding allows.

Priority will be given to students at the following types of sites:

  • Primary care
  • Rural and/or underserved areas
  • Areas with specific shortages

Funding

WCI-AHEC supports projects that improve the health of West Central Indiana through health care recruitment, training, or retention activities. If you are interested in partnering with us, please ensure that your project meets at least one of the following goals:

Goal A: To increase the representation of individuals from under-represented minority, disadvantaged, and rural backgrounds willing and able to pursue a health profession career.

Goal B: To utilize hands-on experiences to improve practicing health profession students' skills and competencies necessary to enhance the quality of health care and provide transformative team-based care delivery within rural and underserved areas and populations.

Goal C: To utilize a comprehensive community-based education approach to improve the skills and competences of health professions students’ skills and competencies necessary to enhance the quality of health care and provide transformative team-based care delivery within rural and underserved areas and populations.

Goal D: To improve practicing health professionals’ skills and competencies necessary to enhance health care quality and provide transformative team-based health care delivery to rural and underserved areas and populations.
