Students

Presentations

WCI-AHEC serves as a resource for area high schools and youth organizations. If you would like to encourage the students in your area to learn more about health careers, college readiness, science and health, we are available to facilitate presentations and activities for you. These presentations can be tailored to fit your needs.

Summer Programs

WCI-AHEC summer programs provide teens unique and fun opportunities to explore science, health, technology and health careers. These programs are offered by WCI-AHEC directly or through partnerships with organizations within our 11 county region.

Other Programs

WCI-AHEC would like to assist with other programs, as well. We can help arrange a field trip to your local hospital, RHIC Simulation Center, or local college health programs.

Health Professions Trainees (College students)

WCI-AHEC works to improve the preparedness of health professions trainees to serve in areas of need, which includes primary care, rural, and medically underserved community settings. This is typically done through the advancement of trainee curriculum and enhancement of clinical placement opportunities.

Community Outreach / ACO Projects

WCI-AHEC strives to offer meaningful opportunities to health professions trainees to gain practical experience while supporting the efforts of the communities where we live and work. The Franciscan Union Accountable Care Organization embraced the endeavors of a student-based project working with ACO patients in the community as a partner in 2014. The program has expanded to offer more opportunities for our students to learn to be leaders in the communities we serve.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC)

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) is a group of health professionals dedicated to making access to health care a reality for everyone in America. If you are interested in serving in a medically-underserved area, the NHSC may be of interest to you. You may also apply for scholarship or loan repayment programs for your service to the medically–underserved. Call 1.800.221.9393 or visit the NHSC website to learn more.

Health Professionals

WCI-AHEC supports the education of our local health professionals, especially those serving in primary care, rural, or underserved community settings. WCI-AHEC does this by offering access to continuing education and other similar training opportunities.
