Today, we proudly prepare general and special education teachers at the early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school levels. Our graduate programs offer multiple initial and add-on licensure programs, as well as a Master of Education degree in Teaching and Learning.

Department Mission Statement

The Department of Teaching and Learning directly supports the University’s mission at both the undergraduate and graduate program levels through the integration of innovative teaching, research, community engagement, and creative activity designed to produce competent professionals who desire to teach in challenging, inclusive, and supportive learning environments or assume positions of service and/or leadership in schools and/or other organizations.

Accreditation

Indiana State University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The University has earned national accreditation by demonstrating excellence in the areas of content and pedagogy, clinical experiences, selectivity, program impact, and capacity for continuous improvement. ISU’s Teacher Preparation Programs meets rigorous national standards for educator preparation set by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. CAEP is the only educator preparation accreditor recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

In addition, several programs have earned national recognition from the Specialized Professional Associations (SPA) indicating all respected standards have been met.
