About the Bailey College of Engineering & Technology

The Bailey College of Engineering & Technology (BCET) at Indiana State University was founded in 1962 as the College of Technology. It offers 20 undergraduate majors including engineering, aviation management, aviation flight technology, construction management, computer science, safety management, and a variety of engineering technology programs (civil, automotive, computer and electrical, etc.) The College also offers master’s programs in career and technical education, computer science, occupational safety management, and technology management.

In 2022, the College was named for 1970 alumnus Steve Bailey, who graduated from Indiana State with a degree in automotive technology and went on to lead Diesel USA Group as CEO until his retirement in 2019. Steve and his wife, Gloria Bailey, made an $8 million gift to the College in support of student scholarships, faculty fellowships, and a Dean’s Fund for special initiatives. Steve Bailey serves on the BCET Dean’s Advisory Council and the Indiana State University Foundation Board of Directors.

In 2023, the Indiana Legislature approved $66 million for the renovation and upgrade of the John T. Myers Technology Center, which was built in 1980. The project will furnish BCET with new and expanded labs and classroom spaces. Indiana State broke ground on the project in late 2024, with completion projected for early 2027.
