Hall Council
Hall council is a student-led organization based in every residence hall and apartment building on campus. Hall councils are the heartbeat of living on campus, where students are able to come together to advocate for the needs of all residents, plan fun and creative events, and create a vibrant community. Whether you’re passionate about inclusive excellence, event planning, or just want to get involved, there’s a place for you on hall council.
RHA
The Residence Hall Association at Indiana State is the driving force behind creating a home away from home for students living on campus. As the voice of residential students, RHA is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued. RHA is made up of hall council representatives from every residence hall and the apartments across campus and an executive board. As a member of RHA, you will have the opportunity to advocate for the needs and concerns of residential students. RHA also provides personal and professional growth, where through leadership opportunities, students are able to network with campus staff and faculty and plan events and initiatives.
NRHH
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a prestigious organization that recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions of residential students. NRHH honors students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and academic achievement within the residence halls. NRHH is committed to giving back to the community through service projects and philanthropic initiatives. By getting involved, you will have the chance to make a positive impact both on campus and in the broader Terre Haute community.
Resident Assistant
Resident Assistants at Indiana State University play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive community within the residence halls. RAs serve as role models for residents, provide guidance, support, and resources to help them navigate college life successfully. RAs are also instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging among residents. Through the Residential Experience, RAs are also able to create educational and social opportunities for residents in the residence halls. Applications for the Resident Assistant position typically open in October. All RA candidates must complete the SAHE 317 course with a B- or higher.
Social Justice Educator
Social Justice Educators serve as a catalyst for change by advocating for social justice issues and educating residents about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Through workshops, discussions, and events, SJEs empower residents to become active allies and agents of positive change. As a member of the Residential Life team, SJEs serve on a building staff with other student staff members to provide guidance and support for residents. By addressing systemic issues and promoting inclusive excellence on campus, SJEs have the power to create lasting change that extends beyond the residence halls. SJEs are student staff members who have previously served as Resident Assistants with a passion for justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
