About the National Pan-Hellenic Council
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) at Indiana State brings together seven international historically African American fraternities and sororities with a shared commitment to scholarship, service, leadership, and social justice. As part of the national NPHC network, the Council provides unified leadership for Black Greek life on campus while honoring the legacy, traditions, and lasting impact of its member organizations.

How to Join
The process of joining a fraternity or sorority affiliated with the NPHC varies by chapter. If interested in joining, you should meet the following criteria:
- Have a minimum of 12 credit hours
- Demonstrate active engagement in community service
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50
- Support local chapter programs and events
Chapters affiliated with the NPHC typically hold membership intake activities once per academic year at the discretion of their respective local and regional officers. To join an NPHC chapter, you are encouraged to attend events hosted by the organization, serve their communities, and excel in your classroom studies while exploring opportunities for membership.
NPHC Plaza
We’re excited to install a beautiful structure on campus that will honor the rich legacy of the NPHC at Indiana State. Supported by alumni, the structure is currently underway in Library Park, just south of Cunningham Memorial Library, between the New Theater and Root Hall. The NPHC Plaza will include a monument and decorative space to honor The Divine Nine, the nation’s nine historically Black Greek-letter fraternities and sororities, which were established at Indiana State as early as 1928. The NPHC Plaza was made possible by more than $260,000 in donations. It will honor the past, present, and future contributions of these nine organizations and their members to Indiana State and to the student experience.
