Interested in taking courses for credit without pursuing a degree at Indiana State University?
Our Non-Degree admission option is designed for students who want to enroll in classes for personal or professional development or transfer credit, but do not intend to pursue an Indiana State University degree.

How to Apply
Submit the following to the Office of Admissions:
- Online Application: Apply here
- Official Transcript(s): Required only if your chosen course has prerequisites. Please note that a transcript must be sent directly from the issuing institution to be considered official.
- Permanent Resident Card: If applicable.
- Application Fee: One-time $25 (nonrefundable), payable by Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.
You will typically receive a response within two weeks of submitting all required materials.

Important Information
- Non-Degree applications are valid for one term only (Fall, Spring, or Summer).
- You must reapply for each semester you wish to enroll. No additional fee is required for reapplication.
- You may register for up to 6 credit hours per term, space permitting.
- Federal financial aid is not available for Non-Degree students.
- If you plan to transfer credits to another institution, please consult with an advisor at that institution to confirm course transferability.
- Credit earned as a Non-Degree student may be applied toward an Indiana State degree program later, but applicability is not guaranteed.
- The instructions on this page are only for domestic students. International students wishing to apply for Non-Degree admission should follow the international admission instructions here.
