About the Department
The mission of the Department of Technology at Indiana State University is to provide high-quality, applied education that prepares students for professional practice in technology-driven fields. Its programs share a hands-on, laboratory-intensive approach, emphasizing the building, integration, operation, and improvement of the systems that industry depends on. Graduates leave fluent in both theory and practice, ready to contribute from their first day on the job.
Students in the Department of Technology can earn bachelor’s degrees in fields ranging from Automotive and Mechanical Engineering Technology to Information Technology and Engineering Technology Management. We also offer minors and certificates such as Lean Six Sigma and Motorsports Management, as well as master’s and accelerated master’s degrees in Intelligent Systems. Our graduates step into high-demand roles across industry, government, healthcare, education, and business to provide systems integration, process improvement, production oversight, and technical management.
Built for Students and Industry
The Department of Technology’s bachelor’s programs are ABET-accredited, the benchmark credential in engineering and technology fields. Courses are taught in industry-grade laboratories outfitted with the equipment and software students will use on the job. Faculty bring real industry experience and professional connections to the classroom.
For students who began elsewhere, Indiana State Online offers degree-completion pathways in three engineering technology fields, so those with an associate degree or transfer credit can finish their bachelor’s. Whichever path they take into the Department, whether first-year or transfer, graduates leave prepared to make an immediate impact in a technology-driven workforce.
