Program Highlights

In the Lean Six Sigma Certificate Program, students learn skills related to the Lean Six Sigma methodology – a fact-based, data-driven philosophy intended to remove operational waste and improve productivity. The certificate program is well-suited for working professionals who wish to pursue careers in manufacturing, construction, mechanical design, and other service and technology industries.

Note that a certificate from Indiana State University is an educational program and is different from a professional certification. Certification is conferred by professional organizations based on work experience, completion of work projects, passing professional exams, and other criteria.

Unlike many certificates, the certificate in Lean Six Sigma certificate consists of four credit-bearing courses, totaling 12 credits in the undergraduate program. You will study the principles of statistics, quality analysis, Six Sigma green belt, and Six Sigma black belt.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per these transfer guidelines.

Career Possibilities

The certificate in Lean Six Sigma prepares students to perform quality assurance tasks for manufacturing, construction, business, healthcare, education, and other service and technology industries. In recent years, quality assurance has become vital to every organization. Careers specifically dealing with quality are in demand as most organizations seek to improve quality while reducing costs. Combined with work experience, the Lean Six Sigma certificate is excellent preparation for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Six Sigma certification and Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) Lean certification, which further enhances career opportunities.
