The American Occupational Therapy Association requires entry level education at the either the master’s OR doctoral level for occupational therapists. Either level of entry into practice is acceptable.

Mission

The mission of the Occupational Therapy program is to provide competent health care providers who possess basic skills as health care providers, consultants, educators, managers, researchers, and advocates for the profession and the consumer. In addition, the program seeks to improve patient access and quality care for rural and underserved populations through interprofessional education.

Description of Occupational Therapy

  • The entry level Master of Occupational Therapy Program (MSOT) was designed around the curricular themes of Interprofessional Education, Professional Responsibility, and Excellence in Practice.
  • The program start date is mid-May every year. 
    • Year-round program designed to be completed in eight semesters (2 years, 8 months) - (81 credit hours)
      • Level II Fieldwork must be completed within 1 year of completing didactic study

  • Fieldwork sites may be local and at a distance (nationwide)
  • Depending on the location, students may need to obtain short term housing to meet Fieldwork requirements

  • Current edition of required textbook(s) and educational resources ($1500.00 estimated cost all 8 semesters.)
    • Students must abide by copyright laws.
    • Textbook listings can be found listed by course via the dynamic schedule.
    • The OT program does not regulate where you purchase textbooks.
    • The online textbook list contains ISBN numbers to correctly identify the textbook.
    • For convenience, the Barnes and Noble ISU Bookstore also stocks textbooks for purchase.
      • The ISU Bookstore supports ISU students by returning some of the profits from textbook sales to the University for Student Activities and Scholarships

Educational Materials
Select courses may require the student to purchase additional materials

Seat fees ($500 one-time payment) were established to identify students who are truly interested in matriculating into the OT program.
