What You’ll Learn in the Data Science Program

As a Data Science major, you will complete a core of required mathematics and computer science courses in areas such as calculus, statistics, linear algebra, database structuring, discrete mathematics, multiple regression and machine learning, and programming.

You will tailor the final part of your studies to meet your interests and career goals by completing a concentration in one of the following areas:

Business Analytics
Geographic Information Science
Computer Science
Bioinformatics

Upon completion of the program, you will possess the essential skills needed for success, including analytical, computer, communication, logical thinking, math, and problem-solving skills.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per Indiana State's transfer guidelines.

Some of the most common career tracks include data analyst, data engineer, applications architect, business data analyst, database administrator, and marketing research analyst.
