I am Casey McMahan, an Indiana State University alumna.
As an alumna of Indiana State University, I was proud to stay close to my alma mater and serve the community that has helped me mature and develop on my educational journey. Being a future provider of a medically under-served and rural population, I must be independent and diligent in decision making, in addition to being relationship-oriented with patients. While the importance of these characteristics have been reiterated throughout the Indiana State University curriculum, I am grateful for the foundation of the 14 leadership traits instilled in me by the Marine Corps, particularly dependability, endurance, and initiative. Being relied upon and trusted to perform any task at hand has shaped my character, having developed a higher personal standard for my performance, as well as the confidence to make difficult decisions no matter the situation or resources available. I value these traits as they have motivated me to adapt and overcome challenges on my journey of medicine. For that reason, I am proud to have claimed the title of United States Marine and future Physician Assistant.
