The online Property-Casualty Insurance Certificate program is open to eligible students in the U.S. (including the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories). The program is closed to students residing in countries other than the U.S. except for U.S. military and State Department personnel and their family members with APO/FPO addresses.

The property-casualty certificate is ideal for working professionals as well as currently enrolled students (except Insurance and Risk Management majors and minors) who wish to increase employability. For example, the certificate program is beneficial for Mathematics BA/BS majors who wish to become actuaries. Credit earned in the online certificate program may partially satisfy requirements in the online Business Administration Bachelor of Science program. Students should consult with their advisors before enrolling in courses to ensure suitability and to plan their program of study.

Program Highlights

The online Property-Casualty Insurance Certificate program provides career-specific training to students interested in advancing their careers in insurance, risk management, and related business fields. The program’s curriculum is excellent preparation for professional designations, including the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation, one of the most highly sought insurance designations by insurance professionals.

The online certificate also prepares students for the Associate in General Insurance (AINS) designation and the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. Courses

The online Property-Casualty Insurance Certificate program consists of 12 credits consisting of four courses focusing on insurance products and risk management. Topics feature risk and insurance, insurance operations, commercial property risk management and insurance, and commercial liability risk management and insurance. Students investigate the operations and activities of property-casualty insurance companies related to marketing, underwriting, claims, pricing, investment, alternative risk transfers, regulations, and emerging exposures.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per these transfer guidelines.
