Professors in the Scott College of Business have significant industry marketing experience, including expertise in buyer behaviors, market research, business negotiations, sales force management, and other marketing strategies.  

Small class sizes enable faculty to provide personalized feedback and one-on-one mentorship. They will help you work closely with regional businesses and marketing professionals on projects designed to advance your marketing knowledge and skill sets.  

Connect Through Experience 

Marketing is about making connections, and participation in career development activities is a basic component of this program. Internships in business, service organizations, or government also play an integral role in your development as a professional marketer, and these can provide academic credit toward your degree. 

Marketing majors are invited to participate in Scott College of Business activities and organizations, including Indiana State’s student chapter of the American Marketing Association. This organization provides fun learning and networking opportunities in advertising, sales, new product development, research, and promotions, as well as social activities for students, faculty, and local business professionals.  

Build Skills in the Sales and Negotiations Center    

Learn valuable marketing skills in the Sales and Negotiations Center for sales education and training. The Center works with community business professionals to provide sales training and other sales education programs to students through the Sales Advisory Council and sponsorship of Sales Career Exploration events.

What You'll Learn in the Marketing Program 

The Bachelor of Science in Marketing includes a required core of business and marketing classes, plus a choice of concentrations: Marketing Management or Sales Management.

The program concludes with a senior business experience – a capstone course in the Scott College of Business and an upper-division elective foundational course. Focusing on the theory and practice of strategic management, the project demonstrates skills in the functional areas of business.  

In addition to core classes, you will take additional foundational and advanced courses in your chosen concentration.  

Concentrations

Study new product and pricing strategies, promotional strategies, channel management, and complementary courses in retailing, sales force management, business negotiations, marketing for non-profit and service organizations, and related topics.

Transfer Credit

Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per Indiana State's transfer guidelines.
