Indiana State University announces the retirement of Jim Jensen, Executive Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance, effective August 15, 2026. Jim’s retirement concludes nearly three decades of dedicated service to Indiana State University, which coincided with a distinguished career of service to both the Terre Haute community and our nation.
Since joining Indiana State University in 1998, Jim has provided leadership for the university’s facilities operations and maintenance programs, helping maintain and improve the campus environment while supporting the institution’s academic mission. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of colleagues across campus for his collaborative leadership, professionalism, and commitment to serving students, faculty, and staff.
In addition to his university service, Jim served in local government leadership roles and honorably completed a 25-year career with the Indiana Air National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major. He is also a proud Indiana State University alumnus.
“Jim’s contributions to Indiana State University have been significant and lasting,” said Vice President for Finance and Administration Seth Hinshaw. “We are grateful for his leadership, dedication, and many years of service to our students, faculty, staff, and the broader campus community. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Jim will serve as Special Advisor to the Vice President for Finance and Administration from August 16 through October 31, 2026. In this role, he will assist with transition activities and provide continuity while the university conducts a search for the next Executive Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance.
Greg Luken will serve as Interim Executive Director of Facilities Operations and Maintenance beginning August 16 while the university conducts a search for a permanent successor.
