As you prepare your courses for the 2026-2027 academic year, consider participating in Indiana State University's Sustainable Cities Program. This innovative program connects classroom learning with real-world community challenges through partnerships with the City of Terre Haute, City of Sullivan, West Central Indiana Partnership, and other local organizations. Students collaborate on projects that address community needs while gaining valuable hands-on experience, developing professional skills, and applying course concepts in meaningful ways.
Participation in the Sustainable Cities Program benefits both students and communities. Faculty who incorporate community-based projects into their courses often see increased student engagement, stronger connections between academic content and career pathways, and enhanced experiential learning outcomes. At the same time, students make tangible contributions to local sustainability, resilience, and community development efforts.
