58th Annual Festival
The ISU School of Music hosted the 58th Annual Contemporary Music Festival on October 23-25, 2024. The festival featured Grammy nominated American composer Shawn Okpebholo whose music has been hailed as "devastatingly beautiful" and "fresh and new and fearless" (Washington Post), "affecting" (New York Times), "lyrical, complex, singular" (The Guardian), "searing" (Chicago Tribune), "dreamy, sensual" (Boston Globe), and "powerful" (BBC Music Magazine). The featured guest performers for the festival were Chicago-based guest chamber ensemble Picosa. Other guests included winners of the Music Now Contest.
