Program Availability

The Professional Communication Certificate program is available as an online certificate program. The program is open to U.S. and international applicants who satisfy admission requirements. For application instructions, visit Admissions

The certificate program is also offered on the Indiana State University campus in Terre Haute, Indiana, and is open to currently enrolled students (except communication majors) who wish to develop abilities that are essential for success in fields requiring polished communication skills.

Note: Coursework from other colleges and universities does not count toward completion of this certificate in professional communication.

Program Highlights

The Professional Communication Certificate program introduces you to the essential communication skills necessary for leadership roles in business, government, education, and non-profit organizations. This includes an emphasis on problem-solving, adaptability, teamwork, conflict management, executive functions, and other leadership skills. In addition, you will learn the principles of interpersonal, group, and organizational communication. Students may complete the certificate program in two to three semesters (excluding summer terms). 

Courses

The Professional Communication Certificate program consists of 13 credits focused on interpersonal communication, media writing, organizational communication, and a multimedia practicum. In this course, you will work independently and in groups to produce multimedia packages.

Most online courses in the Professional Communication Certificate program are offered asynchronously, with no set meeting dates or times. On-campus course offerings are synchronous, with dates and times listed in the course schedule.
