Indiana State University’s Department of Art and Design proudly hosts three art galleries: the Yang Family University Art Gallery, the Turman Gallery, and the Bare-Montgomery Gallery. These galleries showcase a diverse range of artistic mediums, styles, and themes, offering programming designed for educational purposes while serving the broader Terre Haute community and beyond. We are privileged to provide a professional exhibition platform for both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as notable national and international artists. Our galleries and events are free and open to the public during regular business hours. We also welcome bookings for tours, as our goal is to enrich lives through visual arts.

University Art Gallery

The University Gallery, located in the Landini Center for Performing and Fine Arts, is a state-of-the-art facility with combined exhibition space of well over 2,000 square feet. By offering an array of programs in the visual arts, the University Gallery shares in the overall effort to achieve the educational objectives of the Department of Art and Indiana State University. Our department’s Visiting Artist/Scholar program brings to the University a slate of distinguished artists, art historians, and art critics who exhibit and share their insights with students and the larger community. Support for these artists and scholars comes in part from the Indiana Arts Commission.

Turman Art Gallery

The newly-renovated Turman Gallery is located in the Fine Arts Building and is used for exhibition of student work, namely shows prepared in studio courses, and for student solo exhibitions.

Bare-Montgomery Gallery

Located in Fairbanks Hall this gallery is run exclusively by students. Within its attractive and intimate setting under a stunning stained-glass dome, Bare Montgomery gallery enables student artists to gain valuable experience by exhibiting their artworks to the public.
