Marketing and sales are about making connections, and participation in career development activities is a basic component of this program. Internships in business, service organizations, or government also play an integral role in your development as a professional marketer, and these can provide academic credit toward your degree.
Marketing and Sales majors are invited to participate in Scott College of Business activities and organizations, including Indiana State’s student chapter of the American Marketing Association. This organization provides fun learning and networking opportunities in advertising, sales, new product development, research, and promotions, as well as social activities for students, faculty, and local business professionals.
Build Skills in the Sales and Negotiations Center
Learn valuable marketing and sales skills in the Sales and Negotiations Center for sales education and training. The Center works with community business professionals to provide sales training and other sales education programs to students through the Sales Advisory Council and sponsorship of Sales Career Exploration events.
What You'll Learn in the Marketing and Sales Program
The Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Sales includes a required core of business courses plus 27 credits of marketing and sales classes. These include required courses on buyer behavior, professional selling, business negotiations, digital marketing, and marketing research, among others.
The program concludes with a senior business experience – a capstone course in the Scott College of Business and an upper-division elective foundational course. Focusing on the theory and practice of strategic management, the project demonstrates skills in the functional areas of business.
In addition to core classes, you will take additional foundational and advanced courses in your chosen concentration. Your choice of marketing and sales electives may include topics like the principles of retailing, marketing for non-profit and service organizations, business-to-business marketing, global sourcing and procurement, and others.

Transfer Credit
Indiana State University accepts credit from regionally accredited colleges and universities within the United States, and from selected schools located outside the United States. Credit also may be granted for military training and experience. Previously earned college credit can be applied toward completion of the program per Indiana State's transfer guidelines.
