Program Availability

The Scott MBA Online is open to U.S. and most international students who hold (or anticipate) a bachelor’s degree, and who satisfy the program’s prerequisite academic coursework.

Generally, if students have access to Internet service, they can be admitted to and complete this online program. However, international students must be living abroad, or else must hold a visa status that allows them to study online while living in the U.S., to be admitted. Demonstration of English Language Proficiency is also required.

Students residing in countries where government restrictions or firewalls restrict Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) access or functionality cannot participate in this program.

The Scott MBA Online offers maximum flexibility to promote work-life balance for professionals with other life and career responsibilities. Eight-week online courses are offered asynchronously, and the program offers five start dates throughout the year: January, March, June, August, and October. Students may finish the MBA in 12 or 24 months.

What You’ll Learn in the Scott MBA Program

The Scott MBA Online delivers exceptional graduate-level preparation for a dynamic career as a manager or business professional in the 21st-century workspace. You may pursue a 30-credit option with six credits of general electives or a 33-credit option with nine elective credits as part of a concentration focus.*

Business Administration MBA

Study Abroad

Students in the Scott MBA Online have the chance to travel abroad with faculty and staff for a short-term (10-12 day) study-abroad experience. These trips revolve around the topic of entrepreneurship abroad. There are additional fees for this travel opportunity.

Each May, a group of both undergraduate and graduate students travels to a different international location to learn about the culture, business landscape, and operations of entrepreneurs outside the United States. Past travel locations have included Brazil, Portugal, Croatia, India, among others!

Program Cost

The cost of attending the Scott MBA program will vary depending on the student’s residency status – tuition costs per credit hour total approximately $14,000 for Indiana residents and $18,000 for out-of-state, plus a course delivery fee of $50 per online class and any other applicable fees. Exact cost will be determined by the total number of credit hours taken and the approved tuition fees for that academic year.

Admission Requirements and Application Instructions

Applicants to the Scott MBA Online must satisfy the following requirements to be considered for admission. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for regular admission to the Scott MBA Online, an applicant must:

  1. Have earned a bachelor’s degree and a minimum cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) that meets one of the following:
    • 2.7 in all undergraduate course work
    • 3.0 in the last 60 credits of undergraduate course work
    • 3.0 in the applicant’s major field of study
    • 3.0 in all courses taken at the graduate level (minimum 9 credit hours).
  2. Submit a professional resume.
  3. Demonstrate English Language Proficiency as required by the Office of Graduate Studies (international applicants only).

Meeting the minimum requirements listed above does not guarantee admission. An admission decision is based upon all previous academic coursework, resume, and, if required, English language proficiency. In some cases, a statement of purpose, personal interview, and/or letters of reference may be requested to support an application.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for regular admission may be considered for conditional admission if there is sufficient evidence that the individual is likely to succeed in the program.

Candidates admitted conditionally will be required to meet the conditions of regular admission within a specified time. These conditions may include, but are not limited to, achieving a specified grade point average in graduate course work and/or successfully completing specified course work.

If applicable to the Scott MBA Online, a maximum of six credit hours of graduate course work taken at an AACSB-accredited school of business may be accepted as transfer credit into the Scott MBA program. Applicants would need to submit documentation in support of this request.

Submit a nonrefundable application fee of $45.00 (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) or $65.00 (international students) payable by Visa, MasterCard, or check or money order payable to Indiana State University. Domestic Applicants: Submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. To be official, transcripts must be sent directly from the college attended to: Graduate Admissions, Indiana State University, Welcome Center, 318 North Sixth Street, Terre Haute, IN, 47809. E-transcripts should be sent to admissions@indstate.edu. Students who have previously attended Indiana State University do not need to have their transcripts sent to Graduate Admissions. We already have access to transcripts from Indiana State University.
