If you are looking for fill full-time job or internship opportunities, participating in On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) opportunities is the perfect opportunity to connect with students. OCR takes place while classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters. Employers interested in participating in OCR should e-mail isu-career-center@mail.indstate.edu.

Posting Opportunities - Handshake

If you have current openings for full-time jobs, part-time jobs, cooperative education, fellowships, volunteering opportunities or internships, post them on Handshake which is the #1 way college students find jobs. By using Handshake, you have the ability to post and edit your open opportunities, as well as take the posting down once the position is filled. Indiana State University students will be able to search for your company and positions, and apply directly with you.

Career Fairs

Career fairs allow employers to meet with students and alumni in an informal setting. The fairs provide a great opportunity for employers to interact with a diverse group of students and alumni seeking full-time employment, and internship opportunities. You can view and register for career fairs through Handshake, our career services platform, the #1-way college students find jobs. Virtual Mock Interview Days

Our Virtual Mock Interview Day events are great opportunities to connect with students in a 1-on-1 format and help them prepare for interviews. Through this program we are able to connect employers and recruiters to classes within their industry(s) allowing recruiters to meet potential applicants while building a stronger relationship with Indiana State University. Virtual Mock Interview Days typically last 3-4 hours and depending on the class size need 4-8 recruiters facilitating mock interviews. One Virtual Mock Interview Day event typically host 4-6 recruiters from different employers.

Information Session (virtual or on campus)

An information session provides employers with the opportunity to promote their company and benefits, share information regarding their current job or internship opportunities, and offer more information about their organization's culture. The sessions give employers an opportunity to interact with Indiana State University students face-to-face and can be held in conjunction with a career fair or an On-Campus Recruiting schedule. Information sessions can be a formal presentation, or an informal open house conducted on campus or virtually. You can schedule an information session by e-mailing isu-career-center@mail.indstate.edu or schedule a time to chat about the options available to you. We encourage you to make your request early to allow for enough time to promote the session to students and faculty.

Tours and Immersion Trips (virtual or onsite)

Hosting students at your organization is another opportunity to meet and interact with students face-to-face as well as show them what your organization is all about. These visits could consist of tours of your facility, presentations with employees, shadowing experience for students, or other activities to engage students at your place of business.

Classroom Presentations (virtual or on campus)

A classroom presentation is an opportunity to talk to a specific major about your company or a position that you are hiring for. We can coordinate with faculty members in an academic area to organize a presentation for you in a classroom.

Professional Expectations

Indiana State University abides by the NACE Principles for Professional Practice for Career Services and Employment Professionals and expects employers to do the same. 

Employers are expected to maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with Indiana State University staff. That includes cooperation with Indiana State University policies and procedures, meeting necessary deadlines to ensure smooth operation of on-campus interview visits, functioning within the NACE principles mentioned above, and maintaining the confidentiality of student data as outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

All employer representatives are expected to support Indiana State University policies in all interactions with students. Of course, the Career Center of Indiana State University appreciates employer feedback and on these policies at any time.

Guidelines
  • Indiana State University reserves the right to refuse service to any employer that violates the NACE Principles for Professional Practice or any Indiana State University policy.
  • Indiana State University reserves the right to refuse service to any employer if a review of the specific opportunity or nature/status of the company suggests that it is inappropriate for our service population; if students are injured or exposed to unsafe working conditions; if the employer discriminates; or if Indiana State University receives student complaints about discrimination, harassment, threats, unsafe working conditions, or any other questionable circumstance.
  • Indiana State University will not provide service to any employer requiring upfront payment of any kind or the purchase of products or work equipment/tools (with the possible exception of safety equipment such as steel-toed boots).

  • Your job postings or e-mail communications may not contain anything that is sexually explicit, obscene, libelous, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, or hateful; or anything that is embarrassing or offensive to another person or entity.
  • You may not use your job postings or e-mail to post advertisements or solicitations for employment in the pornography industry, the gambling industry, or post pyramid schemes.

Internship Resources

  • Employers with active host site agreements - The Career Center maintains an active list of host sites where Sycamores have interned or are currently interning. 
  • Handshake - By signing into their MyISU, students can schedule an appointment to receive aid from a Career Coach with Internships.
  • Work and Learn Indiana - A free and easy way to find internships in a variety of regions, fields and industries throughout Indiana; they also offer Micro-internships. Micro-internships are short-term, project-based experiences that allow employers to hire students specifically for the purpose of completing a singular project. They typically last from 10 to 80 hours of work with most projects being due within a week to a month after assignment.
  • LinkedIn - Here, one can post a job listing, find a job, or find a course or training to find the right job or internship for them. Get up-to-date contact information, including email addresses, for millions of companies.
  • Parker Dewey - If you are launching your career, Parker Dewey provides a tremendous opportunity. Not only can you explore different career paths and work on interesting assignments, but you can also demonstrate your abilities to potential employers while building your professional portfolio and network. Beyond that, your academic experience will improve as you apply what is taught in the classroom to the real world (and vice versa). Oh, did we forget to mention that you get paid for all of this?
  • Disney College Program - An internship opens to all majors and located both in California and Florida. Through the internships, students can network with Disney leaders, earn college credit, live in a multicultural environment with 24-hour secured student housing, and enjoy unlimited admission to all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks.
  • Internship Scholarship Programs - A series of several different programs with specific criteria mean to support targeted experiences that will develop students' understanding of themselves and a meaningful career path.
