About the Textbook Scholarships

To qualify for Indiana State’s textbook scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year, students must be enrolled full-time, taking a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

The scholarships are designed to help students save money on textbooks so they can be fully prepared for classes. They must be used at the Indiana State University Barnes & Noble Bookstore, and they are specifically for textbooks. The scholarships may not be used for clothing or other school supplies.

Textbook Scholarships

The 21st Century Scholars Textbook Scholarship is available for freshmen who meet the 21st Century Scholars Program requirements designated by the State of Indiana, who have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school, and who have completed a minimum of Core 40 curriculum. The scholarship includes $500 ($250 per semester) and is renewable for up to three additional academic years.

How to Access the Scholarships

Beginning August 1, you will have a spending balance at Indiana State’s Barnes & Noble Bookstore. Fall spending for textbook scholarships closes December 1. If you have a balance on your account in the fall, after purchasing your textbooks, that balance will roll over to the spring semester. All of your textbook scholarship money for the academic year must be spent by April 1. There are no refunds.

To use your textbook scholarship, visit the Bookstore, use your course schedule to select your textbooks, tell the cashier you are a textbook scholarship recipient (a 21st Century Textbook Award recipient or a Child of Alumni Textbook Award recipient, for example), and present your University ID. The cashier will verify the available funds and apply the award to your purchase.
